When curating a new wardrobe, there are just a few key items you will need that will see you through for different occasions....

The Little black dress
The little black dress rose in popularity in the 1920s. Coco Chanel identified women needed an item in their wardrobe, which would be stylish and affordable; it would be something that they would be able to wear in the daytime and transition into the evening. The little black dress that is simple enough to wear to the office and then be dressed up for evening wear is a wardrobe staple for all women.
White button shirt
From the time you start school till the day you retire, you will need a classic white button up shirt. A simple piece that you can wear in formal situations, such as interviews. Or for less formal settings, you can use the white shirt as a basic piece to build up your wardrobe. The white shirt makes for a great layering piece.
White/ black cotton t-shirt
Cotton is a natural fabric and will be by far one of the most comfortable items you will have in your wardrobe especially in the summer time. And for the colder days, they make for a perfect layering item. Black, white, grey and beige and great neutral colours and they are great to have in the wardrobe and makes it easy to create new outfit combinations with different trousers and skirts.
Blazer
Blazers are a quick fire way to smarten up any outfit. They immediately add class and sophistication. The blazer has historically been associated with power dressing (just think of Margaret Thatcher); it adds power, dynamic and depth to a person. Wear this to a job interview, an important meeting or any other important life event. Not only will you look smarter, but you will feel it too.
Smart trousers
Jeans
For when you want to dress down and have a casual day, a pair of jeans is a classic piece to have in your wardrobe. Blue, black, distressed are all classic jean styles to have. You don't need to have all of the trends but just have the one style of jeans that suit your style and is something you see yourself gravitating towards.
Maxi dresses
Maxi dresses come out to play every summer. Unsurprisingly, they have become even more popular after lockdown. Maxi dresses are incredibly forgiving and as most of us have gained a few extra kilos since the pandemic started, it's no wonder that these are a current favourite in most women's wardrobe.
Maxi skirts
If you're the type of person who likes to create your own outfit, a maxi dress might seem a bit restrictive to you. Instead, you can opt for a maxi skirt. You can team the skirt with any top and create the type of outfit you like. Maxi skirts are definitely a must-have for the wardrobe.
Black pumps
Whether you live in your flats or you're strictly a heels-only lady, black pumps are a wardrobe essential. They go well with all outfits; you can wear them to the office and then wear them out in the evening. If you're going to have a shoe-drobe cull, make sure you don't get rid of the black pumps.
Tote handbag
I envy the person who can leave the house with hardly anything on their person. But that's not me. I need my handbag with what seems like my worldly possessions inside. Tote handbags are simple and roomy. Perfect for all occasions, goes well with all outfits and if it's big enough, you can even carry your laptop along with you.
